Evaluating Web Sources

Some of the resources on this LibGuide were sourced using the Internet. For these kinds of sources, apply the lateral reading skills you learned in MWH to answer these three guiding questions:

  1. Who is behind the information (and what is their purpose)?
  2. What is the evidence?
  3. What are others saying?

 

Scholarly or academic articles that are peer-reviewed are credible (trustworthy) because of the peer review process.

If you're doing additional research beyond academic articles, here are some resources to help you with evaluating the credibility (trustworthiness) of any Web sources you may encounter.
